When patients come to us for the first time, our biggest thing is just getting to know them. We just want to know, first of all, what brought them in. A lot of times, they're just looking for new dentists, they're just looking to have someone help them maintain their teeth to get their teeth cleaned. Sometimes, they're coming in with a problem. If they're coming in for a problem, we're always really good about sitting down with them, and just listening to them, and trying to understand what the problem is and what their concerns are. Once we understand that, what we find is that a lot of people just don't know what treatments are available, and there's so many things that we can do now.
We have so much technology and so many techniques that are available to us and so many services that we can offer that people have no idea. A lot of times, we get people that come in and they have a problem. They're like, "I've got a problem. I need this." We can just talk to them and say, "You know, have you considered this or here's what we could do." As we lay that out and we take time with them, usually we find that there's a solution that is better for them than what they originally thought. A lot of times, we find the problem is not as bad as they originally thought. It's nice to be able to just explain that to people and put their mind at ease and see the relief that they have when they realize that there's options out there, and that there's ways that they can be out of pain, and their smile can look beautiful, and their mouth can be healthy.
